About Mich K
Mich.K. was born in the South West of the United Kingdom, surrounded by a family whose interests spanned profound connections to the Arts, language music and the Spirituality of Christian Science.
Mich was born in England. She grew up between two countries. The south coast of Hampshire and Southern Germany. She travelled many continents, and explored the fact that there is constantly movement on many levels. 'We are in an accessible, continual, 'time' space'. Mich says.
As a young girl she spent many hours drawing at the kitchen table of her grandparents home in the South Coast of the United Kingdom and in the small garden room, of her fathers apartment in Stuttgart, that overlooked the citadel. The old piano of her fathers mother and the magique of strings of the guitar, played by her father. The violin and the cello were all important influences, in her creative journey. The travel with her father was indeed a great influence as he introduced her to key aspects of the Arts. He visited many Cathedrals, introduced Mich to language, Latin, photography, storytelling, jazz music as well as geographical landscapes across France, Strassbourg and expansive areas of Germany.
These influences were a natural landscape of signposts on her creative and spiritual journey. 'As with the natural landscape they merely have to be explored and uncovered in the same way nature in all her colours establishes and aids orientation towards the observer, of the biodiversity of which we are one with' [quote Mich.K.]
Following a forward formal education in Art, as well as self taught, she found inspiration in all mediums, which are translated through the use of pastel, photography, charcoal, mixed mediums. Text & work. The processes are full of 'light'..
More recently she has explored the medium of photography and short films to capture the energies and cycles of the original woodlands, landscapes, harbours and seascapes, in her immediate environment. Additionally, she says 'I observe the forms of colour, movement and nature to bring you an array of flora and fauna.'
She is based near to the majesty of a National Park in South West Hampshire, including the Southern Coastlines and this is where some of her inspiration comes from.
The natural environment and wildlife are boundless in their majesty and habitats, she observes.
'Each image is the articulation of the shifting process of the seasons: of organic objects including portals to other worlds: sentient beasts, the natural world and our connection to this, becoming the accumulation of the emerging rebirth of time.' As a mixed media artist concerned with the relationship between the landscape and movement, through her art and photography she encourages emotional healing, redirecting the observer away from self limiting beliefs and timelines.
'Healing Art is significant in the process of alleviating emotional and physical blockages in our lives' The use of colour is a strong influence in balancing thoughts feelings & emotions. It is also an important process in identifying with who you are and your natural connection to the Earth, Mich states.
She has been inspired not only by her journey of travel and differing cultures, but additionally artists, such as Andy Goldsworthy, Joey Vergani, Jon Adams, Richard Long to name a few. In addition she gives grateful thanks always to her tutors, who have continued to enlighten the path of growth. 'The incredible artists and curators I have met, through voluntary contributions, remind us to keep exploring the masters and the contemporary as well as the spiritual embodiment in Art.'
